Decor with some history

Scott and I stayed in the coolest place in Berlin. It was in what used to be East Berlin and decorated with some of the communist-era kitsch.

A picture of the German communist politician, Erich Honecker, who led East Germany from 1971 to the weeks preceding the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, hangs prominently in the lobby. And that’s just where this retro charm begins.

2014 color of the year

I’m a bit late on telling you all about Pantone’s 2014 color of the year. I think it’s because I have been a little on the fence about it. Outdoor space

I backburnered this project for most of 2012 as I got things inside wallpapered, painted, and furnished and prepared for our October wedding. Poor Scott just wanted to sit outside with his beer and his dog and breathe in the ocean air. So for his Christmas 2012/birthday 2013 (his is February 4) present, I committed to cozying up the balcony for him. And here’s how the small balcony makeover turned out.
