Go bold with wallpaper

I love what wallpaper does for a space. Adding texture, warmth, or a bold focal point. I blanketed my own living and dining rooms in a textured grasscloth and gave our tiny hallway a funky monkey motif.

I heart grasscloth

A friend asked me yesterday to recommend a place or source to purchase grasscloth.
My mom and I wallpapered Scott’s and my living and dining areas in natural grasscloth that has just a hint of red woven into it. Note: Grasscloth varies in shades (even when it’s from the same batch) and seams will be visible. But the instant warmth it creates in a room with fantastic texture is unmatched.

Before deciding on this one, I did a lot of research to find the color I wanted at the price I wanted to pay.

There are so many pretty shades of grasscloth. There are gorgeous shades of gray.

And not-your-average neutrals, which is the way we went.

We opted for this variegated grasscloth and purchased it from this ebay seller. We paid $4 for a large 8.5- x 11-inch sample and tacked on to each of the walls in the space to see how it looked in different lights. And if memory serves me right, we paid about $36/double roll.
Our grasscloth
Ebay was definitely the best bet for us, but if you can’t find the grasscloth you adore there, try Discountwallcovering.com, your local Craigslist (here are some fabulous finds in San Diego), Home Depot or Eade’s Wallpaper & Fabric.
